چکیده

We developed a novel technology for core-corona polymeric nanoparticles having hydrophilic polymer chains with functional groups. Polystyrene nanoparticles immobilized with the mannose-specific lectin concanavalin A could efficiently capture human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) particles and gp120 antigens on their surface. Since the antigen-capturing nanoparticles were capable of inducing humoral and cellular immune responses to HIV-1, they could be developed as a mucosal vaccine against HIV-1

[Development of vaccine adjuvants using polymeric nanoparticles and their potential applications for anti-HIV vaccine].

The development of a prophylactic/therapeutic HIV-1 vaccine based on recombinant proteins is needed for the control of the worldwide AIDS epidemic. Subunit protein and peptide vaccines are generally very safe, with well-defined components. However, these antigens are often poorly immunogenic, and thus require the use of adjuvants to induce adequate immunity. Particulate adjuvants (e.g. micro/na...

DNA prime and protein boost immunization with innovative polymeric cationic core-shell nanoparticles elicits broad immune responses and strongly enhance cellular responses of HIV-1 tat DNA vaccination.

Novel biocompatible core-shell cationic nanoparticles, composed of an inner hard core of poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) and a hydrophilic tentacular shell bearing positively charged groups and poly(ethyleneglycol) chains covalently bound to the core, were prepared by emulsion polymerization and characterized in vitro and in vivo for DNA vaccine applications. The nanoparticles reversibly adsorb...

Chimeric Hepatitis B core antigen virus-like particles displaying the envelope domain III of dengue virus type 2

BACKGROUND Dengue is a global public health problem for which no drug or vaccine is available. Currently, there is increasing interest in developing non-replicating dengue vaccines based on a discrete antigenic domain of the major structural protein of dengue viruses (DENVs), known as envelope domain III (EDIII). The use of bio-nanoparticles consisting of recombinant viral structural polypeptid...

Virus-Like Particle, Liposome, and Polymeric Particle-Based Vaccines against HIV-1

It is acknowledged that vaccines remain the best hope for eliminating the HIV-1 epidemic. However, the failure to produce effective vaccine immunogens and the inability of conventional delivery strategies to elicit the desired immune responses remains a central theme and has ultimately led to a significant roadblock in HIV vaccine development. Consequently, significant efforts have been applied...

Biological Aspects and Clinical Applications of Nanoparticles on Treatment and Prophylaxis of HIV

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a descriptive type of immune system dysfunction disorder which is caused by HIV infection. Since its discovery, HIV has been responsible for the death of more than 25 million people worldwide, and many people are infected with HIV each year. Because of the structural complexity of the virus and the lack of a promising vaccine, several antiviral drug...
